Caulfield Grammar School chose to implement the FW Technology at it’s Elsternwick campus for their Indoor 25m swimming pool. Additionally, the school has recently opted to fit FW Technology to their other campuses.
In alignment with their vision to be a leading, internationally recognised, co-educational school fostering responsible global citizenship, Caulfield Grammar has recognised that efforts were highly beneficial to reduce their carbon footprint. Additionally a pragmatic approach to reduce operational costs, without affecting the quality of service delivered is also a key activity of the school.
The facility has 4 x 3kW filtration motors running constantly. Prior to the implementation of the FW technology, the running cost of of these motors was more than $12,000 per annum. By fitting this technology, energy savings of more than 75%, were achieved, representing a financial saving of well over $9,000 per annum, and a ROI in under 12 months.
According to the National Greenhouse and Energy Reporting (Measurement) Determination 2008 (Schedule 1) in Victoria, the emission factor is 1.23 kg CO2-e/kWh. Based on these assumptions, the school was able to reduce their amount of CO2-e emissions by 84 tonnes per year.
